Shouting slogans is one thing and getting things done on the ground is all together different. CPIM leaders should do what they do best - rallys and protest marches. They could not add a single bench to the city.. Shame..!!

The performance of both the Mayor and Dy. Mayor has been disappointing. Shimla town is at it's worst these days. The public had to face inconvenience in winters when snow was not removed within the city especially around the hospitals for days.
If as city Mayor and Dy. Mayor no one listens to them they should resign and let someone competent run the show.

The pace of clearing roads in Shimla is shocking..!! The administration cleared roads of all hotels first and have left the city hospital roads. Today afternoon there was a big traffic jam around Kaithu and Rivoli Bus Stand as the vehicles kept on skidding.

Where is our Mayor and Dy Mayor sahib in this hour of emergency. Clearing roads happens to be the work of MC.. Dy. Mayor was busy posting pics on Facebook from his office of snow. Least he could have seen the plight of people here

Except for GS Bali, Virbhadra Singh cabinet has the right mix of people this time.. Person like Bali should not be included in cabinet after the heroics people of the state have witnessed of this man. Choosing a right person among 10 won from Kangra would not have been so difficult.

Such decisions make a mockery of the people's verdict.

Hey Nityin,

I agree to concept in general but maybe the way forward is divergent.

The fact is we have elected district councils but they have no real powers. This is what is making the situation difficult. If the district councils have more powers and the state government is only authorized to deal with larger issues like interstate and national level matters then a lot of the concerns raised by you can easily be addressed.

In reality today even to get basic utilities in the village - water, sanitation, electricity, roads- we are dependent on the state government while realistically they ought to be handled at the panchayat levels. Similarly district level roads and such issues should be handled there, but our governance system is lopsided.

Everywhere in the world local councils have much more powers than those supposedly with the empowered village panchayats.

I also stay in the viccinity and the car parked at this very spot is a nusance. The small path leading from Old State Bank building and Hotel Auckland gets jammed at this very spot because of the car parked here. This spot is crowded during the day as there are many coaching classes situated here. The approach of the policeman posted here is quite surprising. While they do not let any car stop here even when anyone is either sitting or alighting from a vehicle, they choose to ignore this flouting of rules right next to their police post.

I feel Dainik Jagran has paid money to construct this police post here and in return have taken this parking which I am sure is not permissible under any rules. I am forwarding this link to Chief Justice of Himachal High Court and seek justice since Police and media are hand in gloves here.

This is what happens when entire media in Himachal Pradesh is controlled by people from UP and Bihar. These people bring in the ethos of their native states. Police is the same every where. With elections just concluded no policeman would dare to be in bad books of the press. The police officers would not mind their picture pasted everyday on this newspaper for all the good reason. It is a win win situation for both this newspaper and the police.

I have booked the ticket from delhi to kakla form Kalka hawra , from kalka to shimla by SML KALKA EXP,
Kalka Hawra train reaching time at kalka at 4.30 AM, and Train for kakla to shimla depart at 6:15 AM ,

I want to know if Kalka Hawra get delayed i miss the train then what is the option ?
